Cultural Activities in Chile

The ISA on-site team inspires you to dive into the vibrant city and culture of Valparaíso. To support your journey, they curate a rich and diverse calendar of events that highlights the unique charm and character of this extraordinary city. Activities change each term and have previously included historical tours, language exchanges with local students, visits to Neruda’s Valparaíso home, and explorations of the fascinating art museum, Museo Fonck.

Santiago

No journey to Chile would be complete without exploring the vibrant capital city of Santiago. On this overnight excursion, you'll visit iconic landmarks such as La Moneda, Cerro Santa Lucía, the Plaza de Armas and Catedral de Santiago, as well as the bustling Central Market and charming Los Domínicos village. Along the way, you'll delve into Chile's rich political history, gaining a deeper appreciation for the city's cultural and historical significance.

Playas del Norte

On this day trip, you will visit the relaxing beach towns of Horcon and Zapallar.  Horcón is a small fishing village just north of Viña del Mar and is often times considered an artisan's colony. Here you will find crafts of all types and also have the opportunity to sample delicious seafood empanadas. After an afternoon of treasure hunting, you will then have a chance to relax on the beautiful beaches of Zapallar.

Pucón

Nestled in breathtaking natural surroundings, Pucón is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and a serene escape for those seeking relaxation. On this exciting weekend excursion, ISA will organize a variety of engaging activities and a guided tour of this charming city. Choose from an array of adventures, such as river rafting, exploring a majestic volcano, mountain biking, soaking in soothing hot springs, and so much more, ensuring an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Cusco, Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu * Optional

Embark on an unforgettable journey through Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. On this optional excursion, you'll have the chance to feed alpacas, llamas, vicuñas, and guanacos while learning about their importance in Andean culture. Explore the vibrant market towns of the Sacred Valley before heading to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.  You will experience the awe of a guided tour through Machu Picchu, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, and take time to explore the breathtaking ruins. No doubt a highlight of the trip is observing the art of traditional Andean weaving, admiring the intricate techniques passed down through generations. Conclude your journey with a historical city tour of Cusco, strolling along its charming cobblestone streets and soaking in its rich colonial and Inca history.
