Academic Information

Course Availability & Syllabi

  • The courses listed below are only a sample of what the university offers. Please see the full Westminster Module Catalog linked below for additional courses.

  • Requests for sample syllabi can be made to the England Program Manager.

Course Credit

  • Per the University of Westminster, 20 UK credits is equivalent to 4 U.S. semester credits/ 6 quarter units.
  • Credit transfer is ultimately determined by the student's home university.
  • Classes are lecture style with a seminar (smaller group) following the lecture. Focus is on individual study.
  • The standard program model is 3 or 4 modules of study (60 to 80 UK credits). You may combine courses from any department from the standard portfolio offerings to make up the required classes.
  • According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.

Course Level Recommendations

  • ISA offers course level recommendations for the courses listed in the Westminster Module Catalog. Please note that the course level recommendations are based on the Westminster module level classifications of a 4, 5, or 6 level, which correspond with the three year bachelor's degree cycle. Courses classified as level 5 and level 6 are considered upper division and recommended for juniors and seniors with 3000- and 4000-level of experience in the subject. These Westminster and ISA recommendations are intended to facilitate the determination of course equivalencies by advisors and credential evaluators at participants' U.S. home institutions.
  • If a student does not have the necessary pre-requisite experience, Westminster will not approve them for the course. Students will then provide additional module choices.

Internship

  • In addition to the Study Abroad Program at the University of Westminster, you have the opportunity to apply to the Internship Program and undertake an academically assessed internship. Students participating in the Internship Program must select "Professional and Personal Skills in Development" module alongside two or three other academic modules at the university. Internship placements are limited and competitive; it is in the student's best interest to apply early.

Understanding the Course Code (EX: 4ENGL003W)

  • the first number refers to the level (4= Level 4, 5= Level 5, 6= Level 6)
  • the following four letters refer to the department the course is being offered through (ENGL=English)
  • the last numbers/letters refer to the unique number assigned to the class

Transcript Information

  • The transcript from Westminster will reflect UK credits for each course. Please be in touch with your U.S. university regarding credit transfer for this program.
